Perish

Slipping
between
warm sheets

I noticed

A bead of sweat
Shoulder-bound
On neck;

Your eyes flickered
Once
Twice;

and randomly
You turned your head
aside…

Arching lightly
bare neck-flesh
Tendons flexing

And as you rolled,
I saw
The sweat-bead die,

Perish
On soft
linen.
