Are astronauts
changed by the moon?
Is there a deep and painful binding
to one’s home planet
to one’s mother earth

is there some mental consequence
to having been
as far away from home
as any human person can or has been?

or is there only
the deep affecting beauty
of viewing the earth from outside?

A deep analysis is indeed called for, especially as it is the 50th anniversary of the Sputnik.

It would be difficult to ascertain other than to say one would expect all of the attributes you so mention.

We only have our imagination of such an encounter – whilst those astronauts have their exeriences and memories of their unity with the moon.

A beautiful and indeed thought provoking poem.

Beautiful start and powerful image. We’ve always looked at the moon and wondered. Now the astronauts can stand on the moon and wonder about earth.

    Well done poem.

Well there you go, I didn’t even know about that anniversary. Perhaps I was particularly tuned in to the world’s psyche that evening!

    Thankyou for your comments 🙂
