this poem is not very good but also important

the awkward dance
of strangers trying not to touch,
hovering fingertips
shifted weight,
unbalanced hips
bags delicately placed
between your seat and theirs

avoiding eye contact, not out of
fear of them or their diseases but
fear of their thoughts
we don’t think they are the baddies
but we don’t want them
to think we are.

the void grows ever-wider
between these frightened people

try this; smile at a stranger
they might think you’re odd, but then
they might have seen this poem too.

On the contrary I think that it’s a great poem, and may deserve a less modest title at some stage. I loved the ambiguity of words in the beginning paragraph. Lovely Write.
